在北京，中秋民间常常有“拜兔儿爷”的习俗。月亮里不是有那么个玉兔吗？所以啊，拜兔儿爷也就等于拜月了。以前，北京中秋还有兔爷卖。现在很少见了。似乎只在春节庙会上见过。中秋节祭的就是这只月亮里的兔子。兔爷是泥做的，兔首人身，披甲胄，插护背旗，脸贴金泥，身施彩绘，或坐或立，或捣杵或骑兽，竖着两只大耳朵，亦谑亦谐。
在四川省，过中秋除了吃月饼外，还要打粑、杀鸭子、吃麻饼、蜜饼等。有的地方也点桔灯，悬于门口，以示庆祝。也有儿童在柚子上插满香，沿街舞动，叫做“舞流星香球”。我记得我们小时候，过中秋的时候就一定要有葡萄、柚子和梨这些水果，还有吃鸭子的习俗呢。
